Fund Selection : Prosper
Information : We invest the contributions made into the Barclays CTF into a security known as ‘Prosper’, which reflects the performance of an equity portion and a cash portion (see section 21 for further details of these two portions). Prosper’s aim is to make sure that investments benefit from any increase in the value of the FTSE 100 Total Return Index, while providing some protection against falls. The protection works by making sure that Prosper maintains a minimum unit price of 80% of the highest ever price of that issue of Prosper (but see sections 6b and 8). This is achieved by varying the proportions invested in equities and in cash. For details of how this works see section 21. Prosper is a lower risk investment than investing directly in the stock market, but a higher risk investment than cash deposits. By accepting a higher level of risk, Prosper offers the opportunity of higher returns than cash deposits.
